Pre-Installation

Before installation of your new carpet please keep the following items in mind:

1. Who is responsible for moving furniture in the room?
 
2. Who removes and disposes of the old carpet and padding?
 
3. Are there any extra charges for these services?
 
4. Where will the carpet seams be placed?

ROOM PREPARATION
 
Be sure to prepare the room for the installation by ensuring: 
 
1. Personal items, valuables, heirlooms and delicate items are put away and secured.  The tops of desks, tables and chests are clear of all items

2. Shelves of hutches and bookcases are empty; glass shelving is removed

3. Pictures and decorative items are removed from walls, especially in stairwells & halls

4. Computer and electronic equipment is disconnected with cords & wires bound

5. The locations of hidden wires for security systems, speakers, phones, etc. are identified where they pass under and around the carpet

6. Waterbeds are completely drained

7. Closets are cleared of all items from the floor to a height of at least 3 feet

8. Instructions or special tools for disassembly of special items or furniture is available

9. Aquariums are empty and otherwise prepared for moving

10. Arrangements are made to move specialty items: pianos, pool tables, massive wall units, home theatre systems, weight training equipment, heavy machinery, etc.

11. Small children and pets are in a safe and secure area

12. Arrangements are made to have doors cut, baseboards removed / reinstalled or any other carpentry work performed.
