Pre-Installation

DETAILS
 
Before installation of your new wood floor please keep the following items in mind:

•  Who is responsible for moving furniture in the room?
 
•  Who removes and disposes of the old flooring?
 
•  Are there any extra charges for these services?
 

ROOM PREPARATION
 
Be sure to prepare the room for the installation by ensuring:
 
•        Personal items, valuables, heirlooms and delicate items are put away and secured
•        The tops of desks, tables and chests are clear of all items
•        Shelves of hutches and bookcases are empty; glass shelving is removed
•        Pictures and decorative items are removed from walls, especially in stairwells & halls
•        Computer and electronic equipment is disconnected with cords & wires bound
•        Waterbeds are completely drained
•        Closets are cleared of all items from the floor to a height of at least 3 feet
•        Instructions or special tools for disassembly of special items or furniture is available
•        Aquariums are empty and otherwise prepared for moving
•        Arrangements are made to move specialty items: pianos, pool tables, massive wall units, home theatre systems, weight training equipment, heavy machinery, etc.
•        Small children and pets are in a safe and secure area
•        Arrangements are made to have doors cut, baseboards removed / reinstalled or any other carpentry      work performed.

Note:  Ensure that you are running humidifiers before and after installation for the floor to acclimate to your home.  Average relative humidity in your home should be between 35% to 50%.  This will prevent your floor from unwanted shrinkage or any sort of negative manipulation.
